I put my hand on his shoulder while he gasped and trembled. "Zero! Awaken! you are having a nightmare!" I gently shook him and gradually their vehement shaking stopped. Their eyes blinked available in which he stared at me personally in bewildered anxiety. "are you currently fine?" We whispered. He looked so fragile and susceptible in that moment; broken. He put his callused, yet smooth, hand to my cheek, cupping my face in the weak-feeling hand. He wiped away moisture back at my cheeks together with thumb; which was odd, i did not recognize I was crying. He nodded slowly. "What...?""i recently had a poor fantasy," he interrupted, vocals groggy with rest yet exhausted from his restlessness throughout their haze of a nightmare. "About what?" I inquired. He squinted, eyebrows furrowed as though he had been centering on what he was gonna state before he stated it."I... I cannot remember..." He sounded honest, so I simply sighed and kissed his cheek. "if you are okay; you scared me." "i'm very sorry," he stated, monotonously. We seemed up at him skeptically but he just squeezed a kiss to my forehead and slid down the ladder and onto the floor with a faint thud. We rolled over and then he ended up being outstretching his hand to me. We took it and hopped down the ladder to him. Some thing inside the oh therefore gorgeous sapphire eyes conveyed things that his appearance could not; he had been sad... And scared...? Why was he therefore scared? "just what time can it be?" I asked, rubbing away any rest which was left over in my eyes. He glanced at an electronic digital time clock on their work desk."Five." We sighed and knelt straight down beside my bag, ripping down a set of dark blue jeans and a black but top with some snowman socks, black combat shoes, and some other items of clothing. After telling him I'd return in a minute, I left Zero in his room as I changed into the bathroom right alongside their area. I reentered and discovered him fully clothed in a black Slipknot sweatshirt plus some baggy black colored jeans with a set of black colored shoes with neon green shoelaces. He was standing before a full-length mirror cleaning their locks with a black brush. He did not appear to observe my presence so I took it as an instant to appreciate him... Maybe not in a creepy way... Or at the very least I hope it had beenn't in a creepy way.He had broad shoulders additionally the creamiest dark-colored locks. Even under the large sweatshirt, I could write out the stacked muscles of his arms and right back. "Checking me personally on, Angel?" He requested, voice light and amused. "No," I stated too soon and too greatly as my face turned a bright pink in expression on mirror. He chortled."Mhm." He put the brush down and swept me personally up into a huge hug. He put a kiss back at my cheek and brushed my bangs out of m face, behind my ear. "Ready for Candi's bright morning sunlight mood?" "most likely not," I groaned, "Why don't we go." He grinned, using my hand in his, directing me to your kitchen downstairs. Candace was standing throughout the stove, flipping pancakes and Lukas ended up being sitting with Sarah at a tiny, round cocoa kitchen table. He was reading the magazine, his legs crossed and resting in the side of the dining table, chair leaning back at a dangerous angle. She ended up being only drumming the woman hands on the table, making quick pressing noises together lengthy, French fingernails."day," Lukas said, sounding half-asleep, not even looking up from the report. Sarah nodded at us and before either of us could respond, Candi had thrown her arms around me personally, smiling brightly."Morning!" She yelled, almost deafening me. "too-early," I groaned, struggling to keep my eyelids start, "Coffee?" I asked, desperately requiring caffeinated drinks. Everyone laughed but Candace. She felt slightly ticked I happened to ben't a morning person. "Dammit! Also my twin is not a bright morning individual! Gah! Just who in the field is beside me?" She sighed, high-pitched and partly joking. I laughed. "Definitely not me." After I caffeinated myself and Zero and I had been in the car, at risk of college, we recognized anything. "The dance is this evening isn't it?" Zero grinned, but anything about any of it felt required. "Yup." "Shit," I cursed."What?" He asked, acutely perplexed. "Well, we hate crowds... And highschool girls. They giggle like idiots and party like sluts." He laughed. "Just What? It really is real." "don't be concerned," he stated, winking at myself, "you should have enjoyable." He parked inside parking lot so we moved to the school together, towards lockers. "Damn, we miss my punch buggy," I sighed. "The Reason Why?" "This is the best car ever before." "that you do not like mine?" He asked, making a show of being incredibly offended. I grinned and we also both laughed. I grabbed my publications from my locker and noticed Rob walking towards our residence space which was certainly vacant since we were early and it also had been unusual because Rob ended up being frequently late."Hi, I must get talk to Rob, ok? We'll see you very first duration?" We stated, giving him a quick kiss in the cheek. "Alright, Babe. See you," he stated, turning and going towards World Cultures room, most likely to see Candace and Lukas. I speed strolled to my residence area and discovered Rob. "Hey man," we stated when I got in the area. He glared at myself. "just what the hell would you like?" their sound had been razor-sharp and cold like icicles. "to speak with you." I tried expressing my sadness through my brown eyes, but he felt resistant to looking myself right into the eyes."the reason why?" "Rob, we miss you," I stated, vocals shaking, "you have been my companion ever since I came right here from France. Everyone loves you like a brother." "Yeah? Well things change." "Rob, please, kindly, be my buddy again." "I've never ever stopped." He had been clenching their fists and his sound was extremely tight. Rob had anger dilemmas, I understood that, but I also knew he'd never ever harm myself no real matter what I did... Whatever it had been. "that you do not talk to me personally any longer! You just yell at me personally while making me feel like you hate me personally!""I do not hate you. Don't think that I previously could." "end acting like you do then!" "i'm very sorry," he stated. Those two quick words felt magical because minute; Rob had never ever apologized for anything to any person... previously. "I miss you," we continued, tears gathering."we skip you, also," he stated, barely audible. I went to him and tossed my arms around his middle, hugging him tight to me, like he may fade away easily don't hold him tight enough. Surprisingly, he hugged myself right back with one hands and stroked the rear of my mind because of the various other. He pulled right back, far enough in order that he could fold more than and stand amount with me. He kissed me personally from the cheek, not in a romantic way, in a brotherly way. Rob had been my buddy and I never wished to drop him. "I need a while away from both you and him that's all. I simply have to get always him. It's not you, child, therefore don't think it is." We nodded. "i do believe I'm going to abandon these days, thus I'll see you in the dance tonight.""Okay," I replied as he left. The rest of the time passed in a big blur like I became anxious for the party, though i did not know way; I hated dances plenty. We reached Zero's house-well today the house, too-after college and we also both separated to get ready when it comes to party. I slipped on the purple dress mother bought me personally combined with the heels that added amazing height to my body. I put-on some eyeliner and sat in Candace's room as she curled my locks in small spiral hair. "So, let's chat," she stated when she began curling with all the metal. "About what?" I asked. "Well about..." She pondered the subject for a moment or two before saying, "Let's talk about both you and Zero.""what is there to share?" "Well, perhaps you have guys had... You know..." She did not have to complete her tone suggested just what she ended up being dealing with. Sex. "No," I almost laughed, "perhaps you have and Lukas?" "Yeah, naturally. How can you think i obtained Rosie, Julie, and Tommy?" We went pale and stoic. "You indicate you really had them? I mean, you're pregnant together?" "Yeah...? What, do you consider I magically manifested three adorable young ones with magical powers?" I giggled. "Ha, no. I was thinking you followed or something like that." "Nope. It absolutely wasn't expected... I am talking about I... Lukas and I also were living from the streets during the time without Sarah and Zero-that's in which Lukas was after he had been infected by his father while Zero stayed together with mom-and it simply kind of happened. I happened to be nine and then he had been older... He previously... cravings... But, yeah these were my small triplets.""Oh..." We were hushed as she curled two more hair of my locks. "So, anyway..." She attempted to think of a topic, but I'd discovered one out of my clouds of thoughts very first. "what exactly is it want to be a mom?" "It really is great. I enjoy all of them. Even though they can log on to my nerves, i really like them to demise." I beamed at this lady; she appeared like a motherly individual. "What could you identify the kids?" "easily have a man I'd name him Krystofer, spelled in a cool way such that it's a standard title, but it is spelled different... And a girl... Ella-after our great-grandma. Do you realy remember the lady? She ended up being ideal." Candace seemed dazed inside mirror I became taking a look at to see it imitate her expressions."Yeah," the woman voice ended up being quiet, "I skip this lady. She was the only person back then that comprehended me personally and treated myself like a normal kid. Grandma Beth made myself feel shit. And Grandpa don't state much in my experience." We provided the girl a sympathetic appearance. "Sorry.""It's alright." She had done curling and lightly fluffed my tresses with her arms. "Breathtaking." We grinned in mirror at myself. She had been absolutely right. We looked drop-dead gorgeous. We left and headed down the stairs to go out of with Zero and Lukas whenever I saw for the first time that night, Candace's dress. She had been using a tightly-sewn deep green dress without straps that displayed the woman breasts more than she should always be. But, I paled when compared with the girl. She held the woman head-high and confident while we wandered eyes on a lawn. How could she be therefore delighted and haughty while I became sad and unsecure? For twins, our personalities were completely opposites unlike our appearance.Zero was sitting regarding the leather-based chair with Lukas, watching television. They both viewed at us, grinning at our appearance. Lukas had been putting on a black, buttoned up shirt, black colored dress jeans, and black leather footwear. He took Candace's hand in his and presented it to their mouth, giving the girl a kiss. Candi nodded at me and Lukas nodded to Zero.I concentrated right back on Zero. He was putting on a black jean coat with a long-sleeved, ordinary black top underneath which was anything but ordinary on him as it accentuated their muscular abs. He had slate trousers and a set of Doc Marten combats on. He emerged more than and snaked his arm around my waistline, pulling me against his part once we left the house and got into an automobile i really couldn't recognize within the distance, then again the moment I was within arm-length, I saw it absolutely was my blue buggy. I squeaked and hugged Zero with my might, planting a kiss on their cheek."Gracias!" I squealed joyfully, using Spanish for thank you for reasons uknown I experienced no clue the reason why. "De nada," he responded laughing (You're greeting). He placed his hands on my sides and gave me a light kiss regarding mouth before releasing me from our embrace and permitting me personally slip into the driver's chair and then he in the guests. We achieved over and held their hand We mine, though they remained rested on his leg.We rushed out of the blissful winter months that little bit at my cheeks and thrilled myself because it always had since I had been a child. I heard music playing in the gym once we handed the "bouncer" our tickets and moved in. I discovered Mia and Rob off to the corner chatting and laughing and hugging. I grinned. Maybe they'd finally realize just how into one another these were and begin internet dating. I tugged Zero with me to all of them and Mia grinned at me and Rob forced a smile to exhibit he wasn't mad at me by itself."So, do you come here collectively, guys?" I asked, nudging Rob into the ribs with my shoulder. He laughed. "nothing of company, Shorty," he said. I rolled my eyes. "Yup. Whatever. I'm using that as a yes, Roberto." "Whatever enables you to rest during the night." We grinned on old, casual Rob talking-to myself. I'd no idea We missed the old Rob this much. Then everything went black. "Guess just who!" an artificial manly vocals stated. "Christine?" I inquired. The blackness vanished and I also quickly blinked as the colors and sounds for the dance rushed back through my mind."Darn! Just how'd you understand?" She stated and I also turned around to find Christine standing there with Catrina and Lindsey. "You do an awful man sound, which is how I understood." She laughed. "will have, constantly will." I smiled. "therefore, I see you have got a date for attending, so we'll see you later on, Rose," Catrina stated, all three of these grinning at myself before switching away and disappearing into thee blurry group of teens moving towards the blaring music. I turned-back to Zero and then he ended up being smiling. "i do want to simply take you someplace quieter," he stated, using my hand and towing me personally along toward cafeteria. The lights had been on, but extremely dimly. We endured at the center; most of the tables have been cleared on for a floor polishing over Christmas holiday starting the next day. I could barely hear the faint chant of a Ke$ha song-Tik Tok, possibly? I don't know, however it ended up being her sound without a doubt.Zero place their practical my hips and pulled my close as he started initially to sway to your sides into the beat regarding the music. Then the songs abruptly ended up being cut off and changed to another thing - Nevertheless's track, It really is No key. I lazily wrapped my hands around his neck-those high heel pumps made that ten times easier-and seemed deep into their eyes.I question everything you think of me personally, whenever I put your title in spotlights/Run into the dark night alone, We reside like i am switching because of the months /whenever you give me personally every explanation to keep with you, but still We hide. I rested my mind against his upper body and paid attention to the beat of the songs as we twirled in sluggish, light groups at nighttime, large space. It thought beneficial to united states become alone collectively... It believed therefore, so right. And it's no secret I'm sure everyone knows/i would like you, i would like you/Itisn' key i am afraid is alone/i would like you, i would like you now. The songs had been so mild and calming. We thought weightless here with him. I believed like absolutely nothing could touch nor hurt myself, but which was an illusion. My mind understood it, but my body didn't care. We required this with him. I got to get this off my chest, i have been drowning when you look at the sea, pledging my devotion/To the only I left, for some thing in the middle, my heads in unseen. You've been here each day, we'll hightail it. My brain seemed to be caution me personally of some thing in the near future, but I dismissed it-all when it comes to selfish want of getting time with Zero. I'm sure it absolutely was stupid to disregard it, but i did so anywayAnd it is no key I understand everyone knows/i would like you, i want you/Itisn' key i am afraid to-be alone/i want you, i want you/Every single second, every moment that goes on i would like you, I need you. Zero leaned towards us to kiss me. My heart ended up being beating a million times another, though I'd kissed him several times before. However heard feminine giggles from behind myself. I greatly pulled away and switched, anticipating Veronica, but only finding Mia and Candace standing there... With a camera."I will eliminate you two," we growled, quietly. Mia's eyes widened in mock concern and Candace laughed, taking off before i really could determine which course she went. "Many thanks, Candace!" Mia called call at no way in particular; I experienced definitely she did not know where Candi had gone both. We clenched my fists in embarrassment. I went towards Mia and she bolted away. Damn her level footwear. We kicked my heels down and on the linoleum and became popular after her. She stopped after the hallway at a dead and end I closed the woman inside. "provide to me with no one gets hurt." Mia laughed."Nope." She presented the digital camera up, large above the woman mind, mocking my small level. Now we needed the heels. Great. A warm, fast hand clamped down on my shoulder and I hopped, then again we glanced over and saw Zero standing indeed there."I'll get it," he whispered. He stepped up to Mia, imposing above her together with great level. He took the camera from the woman hand and handed it for me. I quickly removed the images and videos she had taken folks when you look at the cafeteria. I offered it to her and left, Zero seeming like he had been in a rush to go out of. ******************************************"What's incorrect?" I asked while he sped later on after the party. "I want to bring you somewhere," he responded, accelerating the indegent old buggy and tiring out its engine. "it's not necessary to murder my little automobile, however," I joked. He pushed a grin. "Really. Understanding wrong?" He shook their head. "Nothing. I am good." Their vocals ended up being just starting to tighten up and I did not like to test his mood thus I simply dropped it.He ended the vehicle and place it in park. I squinted to the dark and saw light lampposts. We had been at spot he and Lukas made. It certainly needed a name. One thing nice. "you should offer this place a name," I stated. He smiled. "exactly what do I need to identify it?""Um..." we pondered it the longest time, experiencing like I was being placed on the spot; I'd no clue. Zero smashed my thoughts with a name he had thought of. "Terre de los angeles Belle," he stated. It sounded perfect. We adored French as well as the definition fitted this destination perfectly-Land for the Beautiful. We smiled at him and nodded. Pain flashed in his eyes and he sealed all of them securely as soon as he opened all of them, a fresh and unrecognizable emotion had been truth be told there in his electric eyes. He wrapped their supply around my waistline and began kissing me personally tough plus it seemed like he had been permitting every little thing run widespread and no-cost. I gasped when the recommendations of his hands were able to go and graze my leg appropriate below the dress' edge.It scared me personally. Ended up being we likely to lose my virginity? Was We also prepared? I attempted to slow my heartbeat as I found my answer. Yes. My dress arrived off and I was terrified to death. I knew Zero could sense it because he slowed down slightly when he looked at my face. But, since frightened as I had been, it had been breathtaking and wonderful. It made me feel intoxicated and delighted; light as a feather. We in some way wound up in the backseat the other about any of it, I understand today, was in fact immediate and I hadn't known what it was. We had been panting in which he looked at me personally, eyes stressed. We had been lying curled up together under a vintage blanket which was back truth be told there, simply experiencing the minute whenever Zero suddenly sat up. "Trouble," had been all he said hence explained everything. The urgency had been some thing bad was going to occur. One thing he knew about already. Something he did not tell me about. Something regarding Veronica and Gavin. I happened to be petrified. Exactly what would occur? I didn't know; I hadn't seen that far into the future and also as Zero had said as we went through Terre de la Belle, Gianna had not both. Every little thing ended up being up in the air-I could perish tonight. I possibly could drop everything that meant anything more if you ask me. It was my move to battle. Zero cannot stop me personally regardless of how tough he tried-this was my life I needed to battle for. We had a need to protect myself; my entire life. A Bloodie Rose - Part Twenty-five The big battle is in the next chapter!! Sorry not a lot of action right here, but the next and probably final chapter will likely to be jam packed!!! many thanks all for reading my tale!!! ^_^

: To be happy in this world, first you need a cell phone and then you need an airplane. Then you're truly wireless. ~ Ted TurnerWell, well, well.... the desire to be truly wireless may be the driving force for modern-day technology but the desire to capture and preserve memories goes a long way back in the history of human civilization. Even before they learned the use of coherent vocalizations for communication and expression purposes, our cave dwelling ancestors recorded the memories of their primitive lives and exploits in the wilderness in the form of cave paintings. As Homo sapiens became more and more civilized, technology in all spheres of life just kept getting better and ways and means of capturing and preserving memories became jazzier and more efficient. Various types of recording devices, both audio, visual and AV, have come and gone but the one that has made the most revolutionary impact is undisputedly the camera phone! Wondering why? Well, this is one device that allows you to capture visual memories in their still as well as moving frames besides taking care of all your communication and connectivity requirements! The following segment seeks to briefly acquaint you with a few significant milestones in camera phones history. So, click..... oops! I mean, scroll right ahead!Brief History of Camera Phones Any idea which is/was the first camera phone to have ever hit the consumer market? Okay, forget about model, just make a wild guess about the manufacturer brand. Nokia? Nopes! Sony? Nah! Motorola? Nein! It was Kyocera and the model in question was VP-210 which was popularly marketed as the Visual Phone! This Kyocera model was developed and marketed in the year 1997. Sharp, Kyocera's closest competitor for the camera phone, also had the design of a camera phone ready around the same time. Both mobile phone models had integrated cameras and the only difference between both was that while the Kyocera model was designed for peer-to-peer video sharing, the Sharp model focused on instant still picture sharing. The first, most elementary camera phone was invented, however, by Philippe Kahn who integrated a small camera in his Motorola cell phone in 1997. This marked the genesis of commercially viable camera phones history. It is in collaboration with Kahn that Sharp developed its first commercial camera phone.Going back to where it all began, you'll be surprised to know that designs and patents for complex technological blueprints that involved the convergence of multiple diverse technologies into one in a way that would enable the user to take advantage of all of their functionalities on a single platform, similar to voice communication devices with integrated cameras, had been around since as far back as the 1950s. The first viable camera phone prototype was developed by Daniel Henderson in the year 1993 and it looked nothing like the compact, stylish devices that we are familiar with today. Soon after the first camera phone model hit the consumer market and way before the rest of the world became aware of this technological innovation, more than half of Japan was already using camera phones! By the year 2000, camera phones took the rest of the world by storm! During those initial 2-3 years, owning a camera phone was considered a luxury and a status symbol. The ever-increasing popularity of camera phones became a bane for camera manufacturers and two of the biggest camera manufacturers, Konica and Minolta, were compelled to go out of business owing to the massive losses faced by them in the face of the most formidable competitor of their products till date - camera phones. Between the years 2006 and 2010, camera phone technology saw a new height in terms of design, integration and economy and this led to more varieties of lower priced of camera phones being launched in the market.Post 2010, even inexpensive cell phones that offer very basic utilities such as making calls and texting started coming with cameras. The steady advance in image technology (right from resolution and picture clarity to sharpness, contrast and color accuracy, etc.) and performance of camera phones have led to the emergence of multimedia messaging and the recent video calling phenomenon in cell phones. Also, the emergence of PDAs, Smartphones and 3G/4G technologies have only served to increase the demand of and preference for camera phones. Nokia, Apple, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung are biggest cell phone manufacturers to have introduced some of the best camera phones till date. Judging by the fast pace at which camera phones have made technical progress and seen commercial success, we can definitely expect to see more innovations in the future. Now, wouldn't a camera phone that snapped up pictures or recorded videos on voice command or on clicking fingers be awesomely tech-a-licious?

: The spleen is a dark red colored, oval-shaped organ located at the left side of the abdominal cavity in between the stomach and diaphragm. It is responsible for carrying out some of the most vital functions of our body. It's function is to eliminate disease-causing organisms from the blood, thus, helping our body fight infections. It also filters out all the old and damaged red blood cells from the blood. If there is a spleen problem and it starts destroying more than the required amount of red blood cells or there is a rupture in it for some reason, then the doctors opt for removing the spleen.➜ The surgical method of spleen removal is known as splenectomy. There are two different techniques used for this surgery. One is the open splenectomy and the other one is laparoscopic splenectomy. Both are conducted under general anesthesia.➜ In open splenectomy, surgeons make a surgical incision on the left side of the abdominal cavity of the patient, remove the spleen, and close the opened incision.➜ On the other hand, laparoscopic splenectomy is a less invasive surgery. It is carried out using a special surgical instrument called laparoscope that consists of a small camera and light at the end.➜ For laparoscopic surgery, only 3 or 4 very small incisions are made below the ribs and the instrument is inserted through one of them. Other necessary instruments are inserted through the other cuts and the surgery is performed.➜ The camera and light fitted with laparoscope enables the surgeon to see the site of operation. Most surgeons prefer laparoscopic splenectomy over open surgery because of its several advantages.➜ Post the surgery, patients need not stay in the hospital for a long time (hardly 1 or 2 days), whereas for an open surgery, patients have to stay in the hospital for 4 - 6 weeks. Moreover, the risk of excessive blood loss is quite less as it involves only minor incisions.➜ Blood loss is a risk associated with any major surgery and splenectomy is no exception. However, out here, the risk of excessive blood loss is higher because the spleen acts like a blood reservoir of the body.➜ It is likely to happen if the spleen ruptures during the course of the surgery. The spleen's function in the immune system is to store almost one-third of the total blood platelets of the human body.➜ After the removal of spleen, the platelet count of the blood multiplies. This condition is known as thrombocytosis and may result in abnormal clotting of blood which could be life-threatening.➜ As the position of the spleen is very close to the lungs, there is always a chance of lung collapse after the spleen is removed. It can also lead to pneumonia and fluid accumulation in the lungs.➜ Our body depends on the spleen to get rid of harmful bacteria and other such microorganisms. Once the spleen is removed, patients are susceptible to various forms of viral and bacterial infections.➜ The risk of this kind of infection is maximum in the first 2 years of removal. As compared to adults, small children are more prone to such infections as their immune system is not so strong. For this reason, doctors try to avoid splenectomy in children. The success of the surgery largely depends on a number of factors including the age and health condition of the patient. If the patient does not have any major complications of spleen removal, then fast and complete recovery is possible. Life after spleen removal is quite difficult for small children as they have to undergo long-term treatment with oral antibiotic medicines and vaccination regimen to prevent infections in the absence of spleen. Even adult patients are also vaccinated from time to time against common infections.Disclaimer: This Buzzle article is for informative purposes only and should not be used as a replacement for expert medical advice.

: The magnificent Japanese sea lion of the genus Zalophus japonicus is believed to be extinct. Its behavioral differences and habitation preferences in comparison to the California Sea Lion have been debated since the 1950s. Nevertheless, stuffed specimens continue to attract tourists to museums dedicated to natural history and ecotourism. Until 2003, the Japanese Sea Lion was considered to be a relative of the California sea lion. Marine biologists categorized the genus as Zalophus californianus japonicus. However, reclassification became inevitable, under the dictates of taxonomist debates on the distant habitation preferences, differences in morphology, DNA, and behavior patterns exhibited by the wollebaeki, japonicus, and californianus sub-species. The Japanese Sea Lion inhabited the coastal areas of the Japanese Archipelago, along the Sea of Japan, and the Korean Peninsula. These sea lions primarily inhabited both sides of the Pacific Ocean, and were a common sight even along the Kuril Islands, right up to the southernmost tip of the Kamchatka Peninsula. There are a number of places around the region that still bear witness to the magnificence of this sea lion through their names. The coast line of Japan has places such as Asahikawa, which translates to 'sea lion rock', and Inubosaki point or the 'dog-barking point'. The latter gets its name from the distinct dog-bark-like howl associated with the Japanese sea lion. The species thrived on the open and flat, sandy beaches and rocky coves, whenever the need arose. The typical male weighed more than 550 kg, and reached a length of around 2.5 meters. It was dark gray in color and visibly larger than their Californian counterparts. The females grew to a length of around 1.6 meters, and flaunted a visibly lighter shade of gray or brown, than the males. These mammals were fondly referred to as 'black sea lions', even though they were not melanistic or high in melanin concentration. They were extensively hunted for their meat and blubber or fat. The blubber was a much sort after source of fat and oil. The oil extracted from the organs and skin of this species was also used as an important ingredient in oriental medicine. Its whiskers made good pipe cleaners, while the skin generated bags and apparel. Commercial harvesting of the Japanese sea lion also resulted in the mammal being sought for circus antics.Research reveals that more than 3,000 Japanese sea lions were harvested at the turn of the 20th century. Overfishing brought the numbers down to a few dozens by the 1930s, but commercial harvesting only ceased when the species became extinct in the 1940s. Marine biologists also blame the submarine warfare during World War II for the destruction of their natural habitat. Records reveal that the last of the mammals were sighted by Korean coast guards in the 1950s. Maine biologists are still investigating a number of cryptid sightings on record, all through the 1960s and 1970s. In 1974, the last juvenile was captured off the coast of Rebun Island, Hokkaido. Today, stuffed specimens can be observed at the National Museum of Natural History, Leiden, The British Museum and various museums across the Japanese Archipelago. In 1990, the species was pronounced 'extinct' on the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species. The numerous efforts made to reintroduce sea lions to the Sea of Japan include those made by: The South Korean Ministry of Environment The National Institute of Environmental Research The 2007 joint research venture between China, North and South Korea and Russia The South Korean Ministry of Environment is currently funding research and support for the revival of sea lions along the coast of Japan. The extinction of the mammal has affected the associated symbolism in Japan, making restoration of the species a national concern. The pelt and skull specimens continue to intrigue visitors at these exhibitions, and question our responsibility towards the survival of the ecosystem. cute very cute - cj [May 7, 2011] did you make this ms gaynor? - niti [February 23, 2011] i love animals thats torcher - Ashley Petersen [April 9, 2010] that cute to bad there extinct - Ashley Petersen [April 9, 2010] i thinjk that is very sad and mean! - jakayla [February 27, 2010] lauren, kent this is true these animals are gunna ho and there will be only us on this earth STOP KILLING ANIMALS a - geraleen marro [February 3, 2010] it is a very inspiring page this is very sad about this beautiful animal - geraleen marro [February 3, 2010] I THINK THEY SHOULD STOP BEFORE THEY KILL MORE ANIMALS.I REALLY THINK THEY SHOULD STOP. - Daphne li [October 16, 2009] i like it is bad...OH!
